My name is Itziar and I am Spanish. I am 44 years old and I moved to Belgium a year ago to live with my boyfriend, who is Belgian.

I have worked non-stop in the world of language teaching for 20 years in Spain. After graduating from high school I went to university to study English Philology, and in the third year of my studies I was offered a job as an English teacher, so I started working and unfortunately, I could not combine my working hours with my lectures so I did not get my degree. But I honestly do not regret it because I started working hard as a teacher and after a few years, the one who was my boss offered me to become partners with her, and we started our own new company, which grew year after year until it became what it is now, a language school with 600 students, 11 teachers and two secretaries.

I stopped working as a teacher in December 2020 and sold my part of the business to my partners in March 2021, due to the fact that I was moving to Belgium.

Since I arrived in Belgium I have focused solely on learning Dutch. Now that I have acquired a good enough level, I am looking for a new opportunity.

Spaans en Baskisch zijn mijn moedertalen en ik heb een “proficient” niveau Engels. Ik heb onlangs ook niveau 4 in het Nederlands behaald aan Linguapolis, Universiteit Antwerpen.

Ik zou mijn diensten als leraar Spaans en Engels willen aanbieden aan gezinnen die geloven dat talenkennis een fundamentele basis is in de opvoeding van hun kinderen.

Het begin van de Covid-crisis zorgde ervoor dat alle leraren online leerden lesgeven, dus daar zou geen probleem mee zijn. Maar ik sta ook open voor het geven van face-to-face lessen bij de familie thuis, als de afstand het toelaat. Eigenlijk zou ik daar de voorkeur aan geven, aangezien onderwijs beter is als het op korte afstanden wordt gegeven.

I have a strong character as well as effective discipline skills and can promote positive behaviours in the classroom/lessons, but I am also flexible, empathic and caring. I am passionate about teaching and working with children, teenagers and adults. I am enthusiastic and have excellent communication skills. Along the years, I have also learnt to deal with parents and I am used to having an open communication with them and keeping them informed of what is going on in the classroom as far as curriculum, discipline, behaviour and other issues are concerned.

I have always had children/teenagers and adult classes along these 21 years of teaching; some were Elementary level, some were Intermediate and others were Advanced level. Our language school is also a Cambridge University certified centre, so I have always had groups preparing for the B1 Preliminary ( PET), B2 First (FCE) and C1 Advanced (CAE) exams. Each exam focuses on a level of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR), helping learners to improve their speaking, writing, reading and listening skills.
